Hi-O Va-ca-ti-on!
Does anyone remember that skit from the (original) Electric Company? The word detective walks in a store with a sign saying "I'm on Vacation". After studying the word a bit it starts acting he's riding a horse and does a lone range inmpression.
Simple minds = simple pleasures.
Well, that's where I've been recently and it was great! My husband was finally able to destress by the 2nd afternoon and started wisecracking jokes.
Now, I feel refreshed and it's time to start on some new ideas. Think I'm going to get out the ol' Husqvarna sewing machine (a great brand BTW) and start making more batik strips to crochet with. As always, though, I have about 5 different ideas swirling around. We'll just see what I lay my hands on next. (insert manic laugh here)

Jasper Bib Necklace
Remember these stones? They have a new and happier home with ocean jasper in this choker bib necklace.
It's so nice to be able to repurpose stones into something like this. Will be available soon on Etsy with better pictures. (I've got beach on the brain.)

Honorable Mentions to My Facebook Friends
I get by with the help of my friends. If it wasn't for them, I'd still be up the FB creek.
Mystic's Moonshadows Realm has a delicate hand and a fine eye. Check her out for earrings, bracelets and bookmarks with bits of Pagan inspirations. My UK friend can also be found on Folksy and Misi.
Stella Rordan Artisan Jewelry knows how wirewrapping and pulls it off to the extreme with gold and gems.
Please visit their stores. Please like them on FB.
These two fine ladies aren't the only ones to help -I had help from my friends, Pam and Amy. I'm sure there are others I have neglected to mention and their actions mean just as much.
Thanks, y'all!

Last night was a good night -for beading!

Now you see it
Now you don't!
Here's the piece that pulls the trick off. Cool?
Stay tuned for more soon!

What gemstone is this?
I love going to thrift stores. There's no other way I'd get a Lilly dress for my daughter for $2.59. Well, today I came across this necklace. I know it's something nice or will be once the worn metal beads are replaced but, what is it? I have a hard time discerning between agate and jasper.
I'm already thinking about what to do. I'm silly with excitement!

Batik Crochet Necklace
With crafting, I've got to try everything at least once. This is my first attempt to made a crocheted necklace using strips of batik fabric. It was fun. I think I'll do it again.

What will I do with my free time?
My daughter has been bundled off to the grandparents and I actually have free time! Yeah!
What will I do? lol
I have been busy reading blogs and Etsy forums. I've taken photos of new jewelry and posted a bundle on Etsy. I even stopped to checkout vampires, in general, and talked a bit about books. I was so busy so much of the day that a pack of saltines have been my sustenance. I just don't want to take the time to make a mess in the kitchen and then have to clean up.
Thank goodness my husband took time before he went to work 3rd shift to cook some fish sticks and mash potatoes. I'll have to remember to tell him thanks tomorrow evening.
As usual, it's so hard for me to break from the creating to do anything else I still have lots of jewelry to enter into spreadsheets and onto Etsy. I've got a necklace I started last night that is calling to me as I sit here and type.
Somehow, I'll get by.

Delving into my goth side
When I was a teenager everyone thought I was weird. I dressed in black and had my hair as spiked as I could get by with my mother around. I wore black eye liner and dark blood red lipstick. Used talcum on my face and the shadow as blush as well as on my eyes.
I thought Robert Smith was hawt
and Adam Ant was hawter
and Souixsie gave me fashion pointers.
No one knew who these people were. They were (mostly) into Duran Duran and KISS unmasked. When was this? A long time ago. (1984) I didn't know what goth was. I was the only one in my school. I thought of myself as extreme new wave with a bit of punk thrown in.
I had to put all of that away when I went to work full time 3 days after my high school graduation. The black garb slowly morphed into casual business attire and I started buying clothes at TJ Maxx.
(ugh!)
I've ciphered alot lately what is gothic because of the Mockingbird necklace. And now I am trying to grasp ahold of that freedom -and angst and create jewelry. I used chains bought from the hardware store with safety pins as clasps. My favorite piece was a sterling silver dragon that I still have along with a battle ax. I wore them as earrings alot.
Tomorrow, I am visiting a local shop. I'm going to buy some skulls she has to expand my goth selection. I hope to have them posted soon. So, until then, I have this piece to share. It's made of black rainbow seed beads and rainbow flourite. I love that it looks black until you get close up to it.

Might be changing the "To Kill a Mockingbird" necklace
This instructable shows how you can add images to scrabble tiles. The instructions are succinct and just make the ideas just flow on how I can add a bit of personality to the necklace.

Mockingbird work in progress
I don't want to give too much away. But I like it so far. I haven't tied off the ends yet in case I want to change.
