Spring break is here!

Today is a snow make-up day, but starting tomorrow my days will be overwhelmed with my little girl. She's hard for this old woman to keep up with. Thank goodness the weather will be perfect for outdoor running.

We live on a bit over 2 acres and have three ponds that are stone-throws away from the house.  I'm sure she'll spend time checking out the newly hatched tadpoles and looking for toads and turtles. I've got plenty to do myself. Spring fever has hit. There's preening, cleaning and planting to do. And I better get to it before the NC summer heat hits. Afterwards, I'll be able to get back in my comfortable chair and start beading again.

So in keeping with sprung spring, here's a great idea spot on outdoor decorating. Enjoy!

Vintage bracelet design and background

I was the 4th child and the 3rd daughter in my family. As a result I got a lot of hand me downs over the years. Some of them I wish I had like the original Barbie in the black and white stripe bandeau bathingsuit. Some of them I don't understand how I kept like my wrought iron cobbler stand. And some of them I cherish like the jewelry pieces.

Mom still has her nice jewelry. What I got were the dimestore items and trinkets from vacations long past. The elastic in the bracelet broke as the bead string on the necklaces and I kept what beads I could. Years passed and during them, I would find something at a yard sale or Goodwill that would remind me of the original jewelry piece now broken. I started collecting them and soon I had quite a collection.

I've sorted through and made several pieces. This is one of them. I've had lots of fun making this bracelet and might find myself just keeping it.

Jewelry line is now on Etsy

I (finally) got all of my pics on Etsy for my jewelry. Please take gander at it and let me know if there are any discrepancies or unanswered questions.

While we're on the subject of jewelry. One of the big things you have to consider with jewelry is where to put it all. One of my favorite websites is Instructables. It has all kinds of things there with instructions to make them yourself. I found this jewelry stand that has great potential to be personalized.

Friday Follies

After pouring over books this week and all the set up I decided tonight to watch an old fave of mine. Doctor Who. Anybody who knows me knows I'm a die hard fan of the series since Tom Baker. Tonight's episode was "Doctor Who: The Next Doctor". Okay, so I'm a little behind. I'm cheap and wait until I can see them on demand from Netflix.

Well I must say it was a hoot! One thing that stands out above all others from the episode is the interweaving of steampunk. Seems to me that steampunk is always associated with fashion and interior design. Not so much with movies. So when I see one, I jump on it. Thought it was so cool I wanted to share. When was the last time you saw a gear driven juggernaut?

Day One

Whew! I cannot believe just how much is involved to get a blog started. On top of starting a business page on Facebook and working on Esty plus taking photos and adding them to all. I am weary as the day is long. At least my fish are well fed.
