What to Wear for Winter 2010/2011

This is the first in a series of wardrobe possibilities. I like the classics. Maybe it's because I've ridden the trend train enough to know I really don't want to spend a lot of time shopping anymore. The thrill is gone.

But I'm not sad about it! No, far from it. And here, I'll show you what I mean. These items I have found to be currently for sale but you may find something in your closet that already fits the bill. It's about using what you have and adding jewelry to make it fresh and different.

So let's get started, shall we?

Classic scoop neck sweater.

This sweater is available at BodyCentral.

I think everyone has a sweater like this in their closet somewhere, right? But now you work in an office and have this horrendous draft blowing on you all the time. Yes you could wear a scarf but it gets in the way too easily. What's a girl to do?  How about this?

This is a great choice. Because it's made of fabric and yarn, it provides warmth. Like that scarf but a lot prettier wouldn't you say?  It's not a choker but it's still short enough to not effect the details of the sweater. It gives the sweater an updated look. You'll receive many compliments when wearing it.

The muted colors of the necklace looks great with an array of pastels and it's dark enough to bring attention to your face without making you look sallow.

Worried about how to clean it? Hand wash it gently and let it dry flat and you'll have this for years to come.

Have you visited my Artfire shop and seen the Halloween jewelry pieces?

I'm having a sale of 15% off plus free shipping to anything that has a tag of Halloween on my Artfire shop. Not all of it is straight up Halloween. It could be that it's just black or red or orange for that matter! Check it out, the sale lasts through this weekend.

Acorn Earrings -the story of their birth

So I was at my favorite store, Goodwill, last week and I saw this most excellent necklace. Unfortunately, a couple of stones were missing. I was undaunted and bought my newly prized item. The first thing I did was break apart the components. There was a total of five. Three looked great so I remade them into a bracelet that is now on sale at Etsy.

The other two were the ones with missing stones. After shuffing through a few different stones and talking with my DTeam on Etsy, I decided to go with a couple of faceted glass beads.  They were a bit translucent and needed a punch up.  I glued them into place and waited for them to dry. Then flipping over to the back, which was open, I painted a dark grey blue over the crystal. Once that was dry, I used Diamond Glaze over the paint to seal it all in.

By now, most if it looked good. The only part of the pieces that didn't fit well was the area where once there was a connector. So, I used 20 guage wire and wrapped that area to build it up to the same thickness as the rest.

This is the final piece.
These will be on sale on Etsy real soon!

Affordable Halloween Assymetrical Earring and Pendants

Recently I added to Etsy and Artfire my Halloween earrings and pendants. Each is sold separately so you can mix and match to your liking for an assymetrical earring set. Or you can get one to wear with earring you have already. Also, you can wear any of these as a pendant on your own chain.

When you order, just convo me. Tell me whether you want to have the dangle made into an earring or bailed for a necklace. This will be done at no additional fee.  These are priced to move so come check them out!

Bracelets OMG!

I have forgotten how fun and easy it is to make a bracelet or six.
Here's what I've come up with so far.

Faceted agate with red dyed quartz. This picture doesn't do it justice.

Found the great neckace with missing stones. Repurposed it in to this fabulous bracelet.

Lightweight and fun. This plastic necklace is ready for fall!

The colors of this reminds me of indian corn. Or maybe I just have fall on the brain. Is made of moukaite and red dyed quartz.

Lightweight plastic faceted beads in a great alternating pattern.

Imitation red coral. Who said that coral was just for summer? This one is ready to rock Halloween.
